What Is Gentle Living?
For some gentle living becomes a total new philosophy for life.
Others just need it during a period of recovery or hardship.
Or you may tap in & out of it when needed.
What Are The Steps To Change?
- Unprogramming Yourself:
Becoming more aware of the pressures put on us by society & our loved ones. Learning to step out of the box & off the rat race train track – either fully, partially, or when needed. Plus a dash of re-education to see the fuller picture of your situation. - Self awareness:
Seeing the line between self responsibility & what is not within our remit to change. Knowing that there is no ONE answer and whatever you try is not for you, if it makes matters worse. We are aiming to embrace who we are, not feel guilty for our quirkiness & foibles. - Balance Supportive Solutions & Self Reliance:
Sometimes we need support. Sometimes we are well enough to become more independent & self reliant. - Healthier Goals:
We aren’t aiming for a ‘cure’ or complete fix. The aim is to be happier & healthier. The likelihood is that we will always need to do something to stay on the ‘straight & narrow’.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Is It Religious or contradictory to my religion
No it is not a religion and should not be contradictory to the rules you live by. However, it is unlikely that it is really suitable for anyone who does not respect nature & equality. Plus you may have to unpick unhealthy guilt from your community that has been pushing you to do activities that were damaging to your physical, mental or emotional health.
Is It The Answer To my problems
There is no ONE answer – self awareness & self knowledge are key to working out what is best for you. This is a flexible approach, that you will be able to adapt to what works best for you.
Is It Slow Living
We really appreciate the concept of slow living, but also understand that many or our more creative, ADHD participants would freak out at the concept of anything ‘slow’. Instead the focus is more on having less ‘push’ and more ‘flow’ in our lives. We also understand that the option to move into the countryside & leave modern life behind is not always possible, if inviting.
Does this replace my medical care
Absolutely not – and we would always recommend informing your medical practitioner or mental health team
How can I become involved as an Instructor or facilitator

I don’t want to fund Concessions & Scholarships
We appreciate that money raises strong feelings. But we are a CIC and feel that our services should be available to everyone without financial barrier. Our standard prices are not artificially raised in order to fund those discounts etc – we just take less profit out of the business. It is difficult to understand and appreciate being in a very black hole, where we are not always taking the most positive / healthy steps towards improvement – everyone needs a helping hand at some point.
The good news is that everyone benefits from the reduced workshop & meet-up prices.
Who Are The Founders & Directors Of The GLH
Lisa Pearson – Founder & Original Director
Lisa created the Gentle Living Hub at 57 after a long period of struggling with chronic health, trauma & being late diagnosed as Audhd.
After a BA Hons Business studies degree, she worked in IT for Oracle in consultancy, training, support, project management, software engineering & team leading – your classic high achiever, perfectionist.
The next era was to train as a healer & coach, and she was self employed for 30yrs, during which time she also became a Mum to 2 fabulous kids, set up the Mummy Whisperer, became a best selling author, blogger & had a monthly radio show.
Half way through her coaching career, she started to become unwell & was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Initially, she did well, adapting her exercise, changing her nutrition & monitoring her mindset even more – you couldn’t have been a more proactive person than Lisa was. But she continued to become sicker & sicker, culminating in having to go on Universal credit and then LCWRA – a big shock for her ego and introducing her to a world of vulnerability.
After her teen daughter was diagnosed with autism, she started to realise that struggles that she had every day, where ‘not normal’ and was subsequently diagnosed herself ‘as autistic has hell’, combined adhd, with a large dash of autistic burnout.
Why, what were the ‘mistakes’ that she made? What contributed to the decline?
1) She changed her lifestyle, not her whole life perspective – that’s the main problem and that is where Gentle Living was born.
2) She naively opened a bricks & mortar business when she thought she was recovering – bad idea!
3) Covid – enough said.
4) The toxic, shallow world of personal development – she continued to take responsibility for her health, wellbeing, life, relationships, business etc but things worked less & less. Not realising that a lot of the popular coaching approaches are firstly from unqualified, clever marketers, but secondly not suitable for neurodivergent people or long term chronic health recovery.
5) Environment – it is tough to heal in an environment that doesn’t suit you, wether that is due to toxic friendships / relationships, or even where you live.
6) Lack of help from Doctors – there is hardly any good support available from the NHS, which leads to trying out all sorts of expensive, untested ideas offered by hopefully well meaning, but only partially qualified alternative & holistic practitioners. Some of which made me worse. All of which emptied my pockets with no return on investment.
